“Be the change you want to see in the world.”
Youth Ethiopia Action for Resilience and Opportunities (YEARO) is a youth-led, non-governmental, non-political, non-profit, independent, and indigenous civil society organization established and operating in Ethiopia. YEARO was formerly known as Every Woman’s Rights and Youth Organization for Community Advancement (EWRYOCA) and continues its mission under the new name with full legal and organizational continuity.
YEARO is headquartered in Jigjiga City, Somali Regional State, Ethiopia, and works to empower youth, women, persons with disabilities, refugees, internally displaced persons, returnees, pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities, vulnerable children and families, and underserved communities.
YEARO envisions an inclusive, resilient, innovative, peaceful, and prosperous Ethiopia where youth, women, persons with disabilities, refugees, internally displaced persons, returnees, and vulnerable communities fully realize their rights, potential, and aspirations.
YEARO’s mission is to empower youth, women, persons with disabilities, refugees, internally displaced persons, returnees, and vulnerable communities through humanitarian action, resilience building, innovation, education, entrepreneurship, protection, advocacy, and inclusive development programmes.
YEARO pursues this mission through community-centered, evidence-based, inclusive, and sustainable approaches that address the root causes of vulnerability, poverty, exclusion, inequality, and humanitarian need.
YEARO is a youth-led organization focused on young people, especially the 18–35 age group. At least 85% of Board and Executive Leadership positions are held by youth aged 18–35 years, ensuring meaningful youth leadership, participation, and representation in governance and development.
The overall objective of YEARO is to promote resilience, inclusion, innovation, sustainable development, and community empowerment through humanitarian, developmental, and rights-based interventions.
